Rob Hull
PlayWithYourPixels is a project developed by photographer Rob Hull - that’s me. I was looking for a way to create a nice greeting card but was so frustrated with the limitations of my printer that constrained my design options. I wrote a couple actions to create the cards and then the whole process became fun.
The actions were so simple to use and people who shared my frustration loved working with the actions. Over the years, I developed actions for every card size that was sold by Red River Paper - one of the leading suppliers of greeting card stock.
Every couple years I’d rewrite the actions - usually when Adobe changed something in Photoshop that affected the performance of the actions. Fast forward to today - 2020 - and I’ve completed a complete rewrite making the actions even easier to use.
In 2009 I added actions and templates to create calendars. In 2010 book marks were added - I used them as small gifts during the holidays and handed them out to friends. As a host of photography workshops, I wanted to produce nice name cards for everyone so in 2010 I wrote actions to produce tent cards for our workshops. For years, you could buy the actions on the Red River Paper site. Today, the actions are only available directly from PlayWithYourPixels.
The best part is that there are free actions for greeting cards, calendars, tent cards, and bookmarks. The calendars and greeting cards are a lot of work, so I also offer expanded sets for very nominal charge.
Welcome to the playground and enjoy the journey.
